[ARCHIVED] Partner with TexMesonet and Help Monitor Texas Weather

The original item was published from May 15, 2025 1:20 PM to June 2, 2025 11:18 AM

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) operates TexMesonet, a cutting-edge network of weather stations that collect high-quality hydrometeorological data across the state. This data helps to improve weather forecasting, flood and drought preparedness, water planning, wildlife and land management, agricultural productivity, and more.

TexMesonet is expanding in our region, and they are looking for local landowners and land managers to help.

TWDB is seeking property owners who are willing to host a weather station on their land. Ideal sites are open, relatively flat areas that measure at least 40 feet by 40 feet and have AT&T cell signal. By hosting a station, you will be helping support science, planning, and community resilience across Texas.

TexMesonet stations require only a simple, nonbinding agreement. TWDB will handle all aspects of installation and will visit a few times a year to perform maintenance.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to statewide water and weather monitoring directly from your own property.
