Help Us Study the Colorado River Alluvial

Blue image with white text

Do you have a water well near the Colorado River in the Colorado River Alluvial? Your well could help support local groundwater research. Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District is looking for well owners with wells located in the Colorado River Alluvial to volunteer to participate in a new groundwater study funded by the Texas Water Development Board.

The study will examine how groundwater in the Colorado River Alluvial interacts with water in the Colorado River. Because alluvial aquifers are made up of sediments deposited by rivers over time, groundwater and river water can sometimes move between the two. Studying local wells will help us better understand when, where, and how these interactions occur.

This is where we need your help!

If your well is located in the Colorado River Alluvial in Bastrop County, we would like to hear from you. Selected volunteer wells may be used to collect groundwater data as part of the study. By volunteering your well, you can directly contribute to research that will improve our understanding of local water resources and support future groundwater management and water planning.

Not sure what aquifer your well is in? That's okay! Contact LPGCD and we can help determine whether your well may be a good fit for the study.

Interested in volunteering your well? Contact Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District at (512) 360-5088 or lpgcd@lostpineswater.org.
