Education is at the heart of the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District’s mission. Throughout the year, LPGCD offers engaging presentations and workshops for both students and adults that build water knowledge, encourage conservation, and connect learning to everyday life in Bastrop and Lee Counties.

For students, our age-appropriate presentations bring water science to life through interactive lessons and hands-on activities. These programs are designed to support classroom learning while sparking curiosity about local water resources.:

  • Groundwater 101 introduces how aquifers work, where our drinking water comes from, and why conservation matters
  • Watershed 101 explores how rainfall, creeks, rivers, and land use are connected
  • Water Conservation Workshops empower students to become water leaders on their campuses. In one recent workshop with the Bastrop High School Student Council, students conducted a water audit of their school and developed an actionable plan to reduce water use across campus

For adults and community groups, LPGCD offers practical, information-rich sessions:

  • Groundwater 101 for Adults covers groundwater science, Texas groundwater law, local aquifers, and district programs
  • Watershed 101 for Adults explains how surface water and groundwater interact and how land use and pollution affects water quality
  • Rainwater Harvesting Workshops provide step-by-step guidance on capturing and storing rainwater for homes and landscapes
  • Native and Invasive Plant Workshops focus on water-wise landscaping, identifying invasive species, and choosing plants that support healthy soils and water conservation

These presentations are available for schools, civic groups, HOAs, agricultural organizations, and community events. Whether you are a student learning where water comes from or a homeowner looking for practical ways to save water, LPGCD has a presentation to meet your needs.
