Regional Water Planning and Upcoming Public Meetings
Texas uses a regional water planning process to help prepare for future water needs across the state. The Texas Water Development Board divides the state into 16 Regional Water Planning Areas, each led by a Regional Water Planning Group made up of representatives from a variety of interests including agriculture, industry, municipalities, environmental organizations, river authorities, groundwater conservation districts, and the public.
These regional groups work together to evaluate current and future water demands, identify potential water shortages, and recommend water management strategies and conservation efforts for the next 50 years. The regional plans are then combined to form the Texas State Water Plan.
The Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District participates in both the Region G and Region K water planning processes due to the District’s location and regional water connections. Public participation is an important part of this process, and residents are encouraged to stay informed and attend upcoming meetings.
